Also - it’s got separate settings for bake, toast, air fryer, so it can do the normal stuff AND air fry.

I have this model (except in red) and it was specifically recommended to me by three separate people.

It isn’t tall enough to roast a chicken but it can heat up leftovers just fine.

As for it’s “just” a convection oven - I tried but my convection toaster oven couldn’t do what an air fryer does.

No the original post is about how too much social media and AI are interfering in kids’ ability to learn, process information (reading a long book), and think critically.

Your reply about kids running wild in the library implies a different cause, which both facts and I disagree with.

The vast majority of kids these get lots of direct adult attention and probably need a bit less helicoptering on the whole, because that’s how kids learn from themselves - by screwing up and having to fix it.

I’m not a psychologist or anything, I’ve just seen it myself - including in me!

Are there kids who just run wild and free everywhere, not just the library but at home and are constantly ignored? Of course.

Are there adults who look super attentive and engaged at the library and ignore their kids at home? Also yes!

I am around families and I can see how a parent will spend 3 hours in the morning reading to their kid, doing crafts like making letters in sand or coloring or whatever, then they go to the library and decompress a bit while their kid is in a safe environment.

Don’t think it’s a typo, I think it’s a reference to “it’s gonna be May”.

Like yes Bush was awesome compared to Trump but also he was terrible objectively.

I don’t want the lesser of two evils. I want no evil. Why is that so hard???

The point is that seeing kids in one environment doesn’t mean that’s how they act in all environments.
December 1, 2025 at 4:57 AM
Ah the good ol’ “kids these days”

Boomers thought we had no manners too….
December 1, 2025 at 4:56 AM
Maybe kiddo thought it said “waiting on a mirabel”? :) mirrorball….
December 1, 2025 at 4:55 AM
Shmoopy answer: I already have one and it’s you!!
December 1, 2025 at 1:50 AM
But but encanto has a whole song about waiting for a miracle….
(Has your 7yo not seen encanto? My 6yo lives it but there’s an older kid too so maybe that’s why my 6yo has seen it?)

I've said on here multiple times (and even on Mastodon!) that I don't believe that VC is inherently evil. The key word in "nazi bank" is "nazi," not "bank."

NSF is basically a VC.

We've never seen a VC industry that wasn't primarily driven by Ayn Rand reading alt-right bros.

No one came for me. 🤷🏿‍♂️

I don't think that VC is necessarily bad. I think most of the problem is who gets to be a VC, and what they prioritize. The National Science Foundation is effectively a VC firm. A crypto DAO is a co-...

That’s good because it means they can hold plot details for extended periods. That’s important!

My mom would either work or talk on the phone all day and “let us run wild” all day - in the 1980’s.

If you do that with kids now some nosey Karen intervenes and the police show up to your house.

Parents are exhausted and the library or any place their kids can be safe in is salvation.

2007 is when the iPhone came out so I think it’s a matter of never having to think for more than two seconds without having a device to look up the answer.

Even “who is that actor in this movie?” Thinking about anything builds thinking muscles and we have let them all atrophy.

AI makes it wore.
