Also Guehi just scored a header to put Crystal Palace in front of Fulham...alas Liverpool could have had all that quality without the drama of Isak

I assume #Liverpool will get Guehi in January and that will benefit the team. Getting our RB situation sorted (health issues) will help as well. But now Slot's flailing has created a crisis & he has no choice but to start Salah against Brighton & then who knows what happens next. Unforced errors

Salah is still creating chances. He's just not finishing them. At some point, he regresses to the mean & finishes those chances. But the team is so poorly put together right now (Szob & Wirtz play the same position...) that the manager is flailing to find a solution when there isn't one.

The issue is the construction of the team. That's on management. The data guys followed the data & missed what everyone with eyes could see: Liverpool had to shore up the back line. We needed Guehi so that we could bench Konate. Benching Salah doesn't fix any of that. Nor does it make sense.

What's my point? My point is, #Salah isn't the issue. Yes, he's struggling. And, like a lot of strikers (which is who he is even though he plays on the right), struggling w/his shot leads to bad decisionmaking & missing passes that could set up easy goals. But he's not the issue.

Add all that up and Liverpool are failing not because of the offense, but because they give up too many goals. Check the standings. Liverpool has scored 24 goals. With a proper defense, that's enough to be top 4. But they've given up 24 & here we are.

It's why essentially every Liverpool fan wanted Guehi. We had to shore up that back line. And...we didn't. Instead, we got Isak, who has been, frankly, awful. At the same time, we sold our two fastest/intensest players & lost a key player to an untimely death.

Konate can make a world class play one minute and then 3 minutes later make the most boneheaded play you've ever seen. This hasn't mattered much the last few years because VDD has just been unbelievably good. But he's not that this year. He's not the consistent force anymore

For example, last season they had the fullbacks make a lot of overlapping runs. But this season, Gapko is so wide, Kerkez has no where to go.
