This Sunday 7 Sept at 3pm, there’ll be a national test of the UK’s Emergency Alert system.

You’ll hear a siren sound and see a message on your phone, designed to warn you in life-threatening situations, like a flood, fire or extreme weather.

Thursday 19 June is UN‑recognised World Sickle Cell Day, a day to raise awareness worldwide .

2. Why “Tell It Loud”?
Sickle cell is UK’s fastest‑growing genetic disorder (18K+ people), and stigma, poor care, and lack of understanding persist—so we speak with pride and purpose .
3. What can you do?
• Share your story or creativity – poem, song, design, film…
• Give blood – especially from Black heritage donors: 12,000 needed/year .
• Write to your MP – back the Early Day Motion for workplace rights .
4. Impact to amplify
• Netflix’s Supacell sparked global SCD awareness .
• Community voices helped secure NHS approval for gene therapy (Exa‑cel/Casgevy) .
5. Urgency
With NHS cuts looming and inconsistent care quality, loud voices now can protect and improve
