The achievement "Cheney" from PAYDAY: The Heist, a game from 2011. I unlocked it September 4th, 2013. Unlocked by 16.7% of players, the requirements are: "Defeat a Bulldozer with a shotgun".

"The main defense against fears of AI ‘taking jobs’ has been that it won’t replace human workers, but rather work with humans to ease the burden of mundanity. Backing this idea up is another, crueler argument: ‘the people who were replaced had shitty jobs anyways, so who cares?’ Nobody is getting fired, and when you are fired, it was because you were never really needed. Tech just wasn’t good enough yet. Instead of AI replacing workers, the framing is that AI is inevitable, and human workers were always, naturally, going to step aside when it finally arrived. People are expensive, and they can just go find real jobs, like investing in the stock market: honest labor a computer could never replicate."

Text from an article I wrote about The Trevor Project. "It doesn’t matter who is criticizing you, because they’re against ‘fewer dead queer kids’, right? Even internal communications to Trevor’s own counselors who weren’t meeting the implied saved-lives quota read like threats." A quote from Richard Ham, Vivian Suniga, & Heather Gillespie, the Lifeline Management Team at Trevor, September 2022. "We are building structure & accountability so that we have counselors available when youth call. That means putting structure around when and how crisis workers are spending time not interacting with youth." Returning to the article body: "The entirety of this e-mail was only seen by Trevor employees, & reporters at The Washington Blade (we’ll discuss that in length later), so consider there may be a larger context this is taken from. However, in what context would this be good? In what e-mail could the sentiment ‘we must control when & how our counselors act when they are not counseling’ be anything but authoritarian? Comparing lack of ability to work tirelessly at, uh, talking suicidal children down from ledges, to exact numbers of children who you’re implying to have committed suicide would be horribly cruel. Which is why a month later, Trevor clarified that’s exactly what they meant:" A quote from the same people, October 2022. "Given our current call per hour metrics (1.2 calls per hour per crisis worker), September’s call outs and partial shifts would equate to 470 LGBTQ youth in crisis we were unable to support." Returning to the article body: " ‘Crisis counselors calling in sick have killed 470 children.’ That’s not what Trevor is saying, but it’s what they’re hoping their counselors will hear. After all, why else would you use your own research to do such an insane thing? Why else would you, in an internal communication to staff, use math to create a hypothetical number of children in crisis unheard, if not to use their visage as incentive to increase productivity?"
