Her. Yer woman. You know; the one with too many books, a mad cat, and an online footprint that wanders back to the usenet days. Northern Irish.
BlueSky, meet Monch.

We met Monch just over a fortnight ago when OpGeek spotted them sitting on the lawn when he was doing the bins.

When they didn't move I gloved up and picked them up to check. They rolled up nicely, so we put some cat food out, and we've been feeding them every night since.

Speaking of @downrail.bsky.social, their volunteers got a surprise last week.

While shunting stock they spotted an eel that must have came up with the flood and got stranded as waters receded. They staged a rescue and got it back into the river.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear orange hi-viz.

Had to queue at the roller disco to get a go.

I revisited Gran’s house recently and was shocked at all the new warehouses.

That block in the middle is really tall. In their place in Gran’s day large banks of earth, covered with mature trees, hid small buildings.

Oh and one of the buildings is refrigerated storage so there’s a constant hum.

OpGeek got me this beauty as a present, and I’m not doing it justice yet. I need to learn to use it for the finer cutting and slicing instead of just Big Chop.

Happy Halloween, BlueSky!

Apart from admiring its fractal beauty, what would you do with a veg bag romanesco broccoli?

It needs to be something miraculous, for one person in this household is Not A Fan of vegetables.

Spotted in Asda, between “Your Horse” magazine, and “Trout and Salmon Fishing” magazine.

Tempted as I was, I didn’t buy it.

Made this lamb and aubergine noodle dish tonight, and it was delicious www.kaveyeats.com/minced-lamb-... So a big thank-you to @kavey.bsky.social for the book review, and @snig.bsky.social for including a link in her August round up.

10/10, will cook again.

RIP Stumpy. You were the wonkiest magpie ever. I’m sorry your tail never grew back, & I’m sorry something got to you where I found you this morning.

I hope you liked living under our shed & feasting on the cat food. I’ll miss you sunbathing when I’m in the garden, & that wee “peep” noise you made.

Check out the top shelf magazines at #ShezzaMumsHouse’s local shop.

That’s what I’d think too, or maybe magpies.

You’ve reminded me of this cracker of a post I saw ages ago:

The great clear out continues at #ShezzaMumsHouse today. Mum's finally admitted that she won't be doing anything with the doll house I bought her decades ago

Her and Dad were going to work on it, but life and health got in the way.

Still, it's a cracking wee house, and someone will love it.

On #TombTuesday I’m revisiting Creggandevesky Court Tomb, which we were at a couple of weeks ago.

It’s in a cracking location, overlooking Lough Mallon, and we were lucky to visit on a day there was no livestock in the field.

It took some finding, but it’s a fantastic site.

Testing. 1, 2, 3 testing.

Huh. The photo isn't showing in the timeline for me, so this is a test repost.

Fuming all over again that the easiest way to get a refund from Tesco for bad items in my grocery delivery is to DM them on Twitter.

I could do it via email, but that takes ages; and phoning means I'm stuck waiting on them. DMs let me message then go do stuff until they reply.

For #StandingStoneSunday have this photo taken a few days ago of my favourite stone from the Beaghmore Complex in Co. Tyrone.

There are 7 circles, 10 stone rows, and 12 cairns. It’s hard to convey how complex this Complex actually is, so you’ll just have to go and see it for yourself

Well that was just lovely. A glamping trip to The Sperrin mountains, with stone circles, court tombs, mountain scenery, BBQ, hot tub, fires, and the poshest little cabin you ever did see.

Hello BlueSky! I’m home.
July 2, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Cheers Leem! We've gone West to explore some stone circles.

I thought I’d chop the melon up so we could have it for breakfast the next few days, but when I lifted it something felt wrong. And it glugged.

A closer look showed a hand sized blister on one side of the melon, with liquid visibly moving inside. The other side of the melon looked and felt normal.
