That being said, that first video has remained the most watched on my channel all these years. Until yesterday. The Super Metroid Any% World Record finally overtook it in view count! Pretty cool.

It’s honestly very surreal that the guy who was the single largest inspiration for me in speedrunning also turned out to be such a good friend for me, and such an anchor for me emotionally and mentally over the years as well.

Zoast has since become one of my best friends, and he’s here staying with us for a week! Thursday-Saturday we will be streaming an event focused entirely on good vibes and “hanging with friends” called “Back to the Basement”.

Often times he would be playing again as I was going to sleep. I was able to reconnect with my favorite game with childhood, and found a community that I felt comfortable in, not to mention the extremely comfy vibes of his stream in general.

It was good in many ways, but I was neck deep in recent traumatic experiences and also a new husband and father. Work was also very stressful. Any given day I felt like I was about to break, but in my downtime at work I was able to watch Zoast do WR attempts
