Wednesday portrait club - sketch in pen and ink then a watercolor. Was really struggling with the humidity and my paper wouldn't dry. Going to try again at home where I have a hairdryer 😄

Where do you find light?

I painted this lighthouse in Chania, Crete this morning while thinking about how and where to find hope when all seems dark.

For me, it's by getting space away from the internet and out in nature or getting lost in a painting. How about you?

This was our exercise on the final day of the workshop, though I had only put on the first two glazes and the eyes while in class. I think I'm finished. 🤷‍♀️

Overall I'm pleased with the workshop and all that I learned.

Finally finished up the details on this portrait exercise from the Michael Holter workshop. "Tim" got quite a variety of variations from the class which was entertaining.

I'm eager to apply these learnings to my own portraits.

Inktober day 2: "weave"

I chose to sketch this baobab tree I took a picture of in Tanzania. The branches are almost like fractals.

Fixed my pen and tested some splatter but this paper doesn't take it well

I'm way behind on #inktober but I liked the "mustache" theme for day 1 so I decided to sketch my great-great-grandfather from Santorini who had an impressive mustache

Decided to submit this watercolor of the cows at Chapel Hill Creamery for Paint It Orange plein air wet paint sale! I had two others I liked but these cows made me smile.
