The reasoning is bleak but simple - it is easier to rebuild after flooding in a welcoming community than after the onset of fascism in an unwelcoming one.
This is immensely bleak. They're generally going to be 'remigrating' to places that will be ravaged by climate change caused by the people that fleeing from.

Last week I checked in on a friend, someone who I thought would be one of the very last immigrants (who have any other options) to leave Germany, only to find that they and their family are already in the process of leaving. Their explicit reason: the rise of fascism. Very, very disturbing times.

Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

This is the most nuanced article I've seen in the guardian for a while. Clearly identifies the ways in which a campaign from a relatively small number of people online can poison the national debate (ignoring facts) and impact policy for the worst.

If only they could see this pattern elsewhere 🤔
How Motability cuts went from a rightwing online campaign to Rachel Reeves’s budget
Car lease scheme for people with mobility problems portrayed as ‘free’ but is funded by benefits and their own contributions

Item you’ve left out on the bathroom counter: I know just where it goes and can put it away any time :) Just convenient!

Item your partner or child has left out on the bathroom counter: It begins. The brave receptacles of our home now TOO FULL to accept the luxe refuse of our presumptuous lifestyle

'Nobody voted for this!' my dude, every single person that voluntarily moved to London absolutely did. The commentariat simply cannot conceive of the rightness of millions of human beings organically making decisions by themselves; all decisions must be top-down diktats from the political class.

i think it's useful to look at areas where the *tech* has gotten much better while tech *interactions* have gotten way worse. streaming has gotten worse, google search has gotten worse, digital cameras are leaps better. apple's silicone is so good it's threatening their user upgrade cycle
it’s so weird to look around and realize like, tech and media are materially worse than a decade ago

Even by the standards of anti-woke journalism this is lazy dreck. The first piece of "evidence" that older gamers are mad about wokeness is a random Reddit comment — that isn't a complaint about wokeness.
