We tried to place this story - very expensive polling, the first of its kind, strong quantitative data about what trans people feel about Britain: bluntly there is no better way to tell the story - with the BBC but it said it was "too weak".

But it will pick up any old piece of transhating garbage.
In @yougov.co.uk polling of the trans community, to the best of our knowledge the first of its kind ever conducted, an astonishing 84% said Britain is “fairly unsafe” or “very unsafe” for trans people.

With all due respect to Tom (seriously, not being sarcastic), I think he's wrong. Anyone who thinks this has not paid attention to how the successfully completely reversed the trajectory of trans equality in the UK in only 10 years.

They will probably manage the same with abortion.
Right-wingers who think tactics they've used to criminalize abortion in the US will have the same kind of traction in the UK fail to grasp that religious fundamentalism is widely viewed as nuts in the UK, & has been for many decades, if not centuries.

As much chance of abolishing UK gun controls.
The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.

Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"

Absolutely maddening that this isn't a bigger news story outside of NI tbh. Loyalists are literally threatening to burn shit down over dual language signage, but Palestine Action are the big scary terrorists that we all need to be talking about, right?

UK passport holders can live and work in Ireland with no minimum £savings requirement or funding.

Note: Healthcare is still free.

If you can show proof of living in Ireland for 5 years you can then apply for naturalisation and get an Irish (EU) passport.

Enough people said they wanted to see the final slide deck, so I took the time to put it on my non-teacher github so I could share it. I didn't end up getting in trouble. I ended up being encouraged by a colleague to share it with my dept chair, and he liked it

This is the reaction of cowards.

But more importantly it is the result of lobbying by a far right extremist group which has managed to finally get their way after *years* of trying to destroy any trace of anything they disagree with.

NEW: Today’s front page of the UK Daily Express is significant.

Few right-wing newspapers have been as pro-Israel and supportive of the Israeli military than this newspaper.

It seems even they now draw the line at the intentional starvation of children.

Disgracefully late, but significant still.

If the media were better they wouldn’t be saying “your plan is great Ken”.
They’d be asking if “nature positive” actually means anything. And have offsets worked literally anywhere? And why try to privatise conservation efforts rather than simply funding them?
And what are your interests, Ken?

The casual gender essentialism in mother's groups really isn't talked about a lot. It's really annoying trying to be polite and not alienate people while explaining that no, monster truck shows aren't just for boys, or boys can like princess dresses, or kids might not even feel attached to a gender.
