You will lose, your colonies will die at first, but when it works, it becomes one of the greatest storytelling games ever. It will make you laugh, cry and every emotion inbetween!
Oh, and the soundtrack, both for the base game, and the DLC's is astounding!

Honestly, that's Rimworld!
The reality is, the game is a constant learning exercise, and every failure is you learning a little more. The starts are always tough and need to be treated as more a survival exercise, getting shelter, food, medicine, weapons.... Then the stories really begin.
