My wife won't let me listen to Gong in the car, even when she's not a passenger. Merely listening to their music is as intoxicating as any mind-altering drug, apparently. I'm only allowed the Pierre Moerlen-fronted albums. I'm beginning to suspect she has a thing for Frenchmen with high cheekbones 😜

Okay - not as good as they do on "Incantations" - but that was DESIGNED to be a double vinyl. "Amarok" wasn't, but still works surprisingly well as one. Personally, I'd have started Side 4 a bit later, so it begins with the "Africa" segment heard on "Elements", but that would be nitpicking.

Definitely. Back in the early days of Facebook, it was essentially a version of "Friends Reunited", a UK site that reunited former classmates etc., that you didn't have to pay for. It was social media, with the emphasis on "social". All I see on it today is 70+ year-olds reacting to AI slop.

And 2 years later, another band achieved their first hit single, also on the back of "Minder"

I'd left positive feedback as, overall, I was still very happy with the service overall and the other records in the order, but he said it was "misleading" and was starting to get argumentative as he couldn't see or hear the issues himself. Feedback removed. Line drawn. Customer lost.

The seller seemed affronted by my comments they were "scratched up". One was an ex-library copy that had been loaned out dozens of times - nowhere NEAR the Near Mint grade he gave it. The other definitely wasn't VG+ either, it had not been well looked-after and had a noticeable jump. ⬇️

"Replay value" sounds a bit analytical. Replace with "timeless quality".

I'd heard they were only gigging throughout the London/South East area. If they're willing to venture into Wales, there's hope for Birmingham yet 😆

While you're at the Pete Roth Trio gig, could you use whatever the Prog-related equivalent of the "Jedi Mind Trick" is to convince them to tour the Midlands please? As much as I would love to see Bruford perform before he retires (again), It takes me a good 2.5hrs just to reach the M25 circle 😂

I would also recommend that all schools issue 1 gill of rough to all children during music lessons as standard.

My theory is that class divide can be resolved via greater national appreciation of @thewurzels.bsky.social. If I can prove any correlation, I shall petition the government to make their self-titled debut album standard issue to all citizens and studied as part of the National Curriculum.

"Carry On Cutler!" was one of the country club recordings, but the audience certainly don't behave like country club members during the "Drink Up Thy Zider" finale. They're cheering as loudly as the Royal Oak crowd, rather than removing their monocles and saying "ah, local folk music: how quaint".

Credit where its due, the Labour CLP in my area have their hearts in the right places, and have made a positive impact over the last year, but the cracks are starting to show. One councillor has recently defected to become an "Independent Green". I reckon he won't be the last 😀

No elections in my area until the Borough elections next May, but I reckon the gammon-magnets will be out in force from March as they have control over my county, Staffordshire. Staffs CC is responsible for filling in potholes, and on that front, they've done bugger all.

This morning was the first Saturday in ages where I was able to oversleep: If my computer told me it was the year 4126, I'd believe it 😆
