Bookending this with something I think continues to be important to highlight as a big reason why a lot of gender-segregated categories exist in the first place and why it's important that trans women be included
The moment you understand that gender segregation largely exists in sports to protect the egos of fragile men from the indignity of losing to a woman or to allow women to compete without enduring unwelcoming "No Girls Allowed" spaces in sport then the lie behind "protecting women" becomes apparent.

stop them from doing what they want rather than I crating the friction of the mechanics which lead to the emergent properties of roleplay as a concept, existing never in rules but as a shadow play always partially existing only in the metagame whose illusion can at any time be broken
