Do graphic novels count? Because "Land of the Lustrous" by Haruko Ichikawa was a beautiful, frightening, and ultimately serene human journey.

It made me feel like the ogre meme at times... not unlike "Bird of Fire" by Osamu Tezuka, so not bad at all!

Water balloon yoyos were my favourite things at matsuri... and I'll bet #AlanBecker 's sticks will even turn THAT into an extreme sport.
King is amused with the water balloon yoyo. Purple is bouncing their yoyo upwards. Red is playfully smacking Blue with theirs. Blue is attempting a trick by shooting under one leg. Yellow is trying something more complex, by stretching the elastic around their arm. Green and Orange are doing a syncronized trick with double waterballoon yoyos, spinning them up in the air in big arcs. Purple is observing intently and in awe. King is impressed. Yellow politely claps. Blue and Red are doing a slappy-fight with their yoyos.

Sarnax biting into a hostile enemy's arm, and of him wiping the blood off his lips with his sleeve -- an unsettling coolness to his expression. Sarnax is probably: "Not above acts of savagery for His divine purpose" and would use the bite attack unceremoniously. Kremy awkwardly biting into a large monster's arm, and an annoyed Kremy wiping his lips of blood with a handkerchief looking into a compact mirror. Would probably use that biting attack ONLY WHEN NECESSARY!! Reasons being: He's "A civilized f**ckin' humanoid, Risks ruining moustache, Higher food standards" Briggsy.... I don't know him yet, but he'll probably use the bite attack no problem. Since that one time he downed that plate of gross stuff: "I'VE HAD WORSE!"

This is how it all started... this was all I wanted to draw, but somehow it blew up into the above.
KREMY: Fancy pocket notebook. Probably shiny leather. Custom embossed logo. Says "K.Lecroux" in cursive. Expensive fountain pen. Gold page edges. FROST: Matte leather cover with charcoal fingerprints on it. Frosty's furs/hairs stuck to it depends on the season. TORBEK: Cheap lined Hilro... Hilldwarf coiled notebook. Ripped cover patched with tape but an oily stain expands from there. Torbek's hair(year-round) stuck between the tape. Papers wrinkly from dropping in a puddle. Other questionable stains and bite marks on pencil end. GIDEON: Thick pencil for a tiny spectacle, a tinier notebook and even tinier text. Probably only has THE one entry from the Witchlight Carnival. TWIG: A notebook bound by twine with a pressed clover on the cover. A reed pen is tied to it, and has flower petals for bookmarks. GRICKO: Smugly "You don't need to take notes when you've got a steel trap like mine~"

[Ep23, I think...] Gricko looks to Kremy with a stumped expression. Kremy takes out his pocket notebook to check. Torbek also seems uncertain when he looks up from his own ratty coil notebook. An exasperated Frost takes out his notes from his giant backpack, tail flicking a bit in annoyance. "Heh" says a Gideon wearing tiny spectacles and amused by his own entry in his tiny, TINY notebook. Hootsie is grooming herself while Twig is watching the party get their info in order from behind a DM screen.

Kremy, putting two fingers to his temple, recieves Frost's psychic message. He says "This is the WORST." Artist has cut off Frost's part of the drawing because they didn't like it, but there's still a Mud-Mephit Torbek still visible on the page. Meanwhile, Gideon is trying to make funny faces to amuse Hootsie, but she just stares at him. "..." Twig is also there.

At the top of a giant stump, Gideon scouts around with his tongue sticking out and drooling all over himself. He drags behind him a chained up Frost who is freaking out. Poor Kremy covers his snout and eyes with his top hat, away from the edge of the stump. Torbek breaks his teeth on a jawbreaker-sized rock. Gricko skitters over the mounds of trinkets on all four legs. Hootsie rolls her eyes at her silly father and uncles. A tiny pygmy(?) owl aarakokra form Twig is flopping all over the ground, unable to walk in the new body. Hootsie shows her how to walk. Frost brings out his jar of peanut butter. マイPBw Frost bends down to the goblin's height "Cheers, Gricko!" to which Gricko responds "Cheers!" "(sigh) Let's go, Gid." Kremy walks away from the stupidity. Gideon looks back at Frost and Gricko lying on the ground, choking on peanut butter. "Water, please...!" squeaks Frost. ... Hootsie the owlbear is colouring a drawing of a butterfly. She has airpods in while her father and uncles cause a commotion upstairs the inn. She turns around to a sound. Then a look of horror when the sound gets closer. thud Thud THUD 𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗗 𝗧𝗛- Hootsie is on a cushion, head bandaged but otherwise fine. Her father Gricko hugs Hootsie, probably apologizing about hurting her while under a fey curse. Hootsie drawn with actual reference of a Great Horned Owl. Artist wishes they used this design for the previous drawings.

(Ep.4) 1:30:40 Fron the shadows, a child Frost, with a glint of mischief in his eyes approaches Gricko -- who is standing around scratching his arse. Although he is his child self in his mind, Frost is still in his adult body and with an exclamation "Maybe Gricko can help you take a LOOK!" POW, pushes his smol goblin friend with full force. Rip, Gricko. A depiction of baby Gricko. Skitter-skitter-skittering through the swamp mud is a ball of messy hair with tiny limbs, ears, tail, and a big nose. Little Kremy's humble beginnings, with a big innocent smile, in simple clothes, getting muddy trying to catch frogs.... oh how he has grown.

Agent sits on the barber chair as Orange thinks about the past faces they drew for the others. Reveal Agent with straight-lined facial features, with sparkles indicating that they look cool or whatever. But it's missing something. (Grey hat stickman hands Agent a mirror. Pleased.) Orange quickly removes the glasses and draws eyes in a similar style. Agent isn't sure what they're looking at in the mirror. Mitsi(already has a face) peeks in and tut-tuts Orange on the face they drew on Agent. Reveal Agent with goofy squinty (3_3) eyes since they can't see without their prescription sunglasses. Oh Mitsi, you kidder~ Agent is confused but glad they're having fun... then we see Victim ded in a crater. Hearts and smoke come out Vic's blushing face. Both Agent AND Mitsi with faces is too much for their heart. Agent helps Vic up onto the barber chair while Orange asks Mitsi something. Vic is a bit nervous because the pencil tool is similar to the mouse which had tortured them for years. Mitsi reassures Vic that they don't have to have a face drawn on if it makes them uncomfortable. Agent seems to agree. Vic stops Orange from putting down their pencil tool. Vic asks Orange to proceed with drawing them a face. Eyes slowly open. Vic's new face is similar to Orange a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶C̶l̶e̶f̶a̶i̶r̶y̶ ̶t̶b̶c̶h̶ but with a scar on their left cheek. Agent tilts the mirror to Vic, and Mitsi seems to be talking to Vic. Vic compliments Orange. Orange is like "aw it was nothing" Then, Vic asks for the pencil. Orange hands it to them. Vic flips the pencil to their own face. Agent and Mitsi watch warmly. Vic has removed the scar and looks fully content with their face now. Mitsi hugs Vic in a lunge, which throws a flustered Vic off the chair. Agent wipes their happy tears. Bonus panel: Gray stickman with hat gets a H̶e̶n̶r̶y̶ ̶S̶t̶i̶c̶k̶m̶i̶n̶ face too! Now the rest of the AvA cast line up for theirs. Good luck, Orange!
