Tbh I do agree because as a fan of less mainstream fandoms it gets disheartening that I’m unable to have access to official merch of things like Guilty Gear and Pop N Music (and formerly Splatoon) because the big companies decided to make these merch essentially JP only
Official merch is nice, the concept of being able to officially show support for the media you like is important. It should communicate to companies that you like the thing they are making--but certain companies have def developed corporate greed and made merch collecting a predatory process.
