History is simply a time, you still need to build a story and tone around that time. A full commitment to realism and total accuracy rather than thoughtful, selective authenticity often lead to kind of boring stories.

This is also what makes Vinland Saga so good btw. Everything visually is trying to capture a very specific time in the world but also it’s about as anime as it gets.
