Despite the last minute snag, my mate and I had a great time. Japan has always been an amazing place, no less than when I worked here for a year back in 2003. We do hope to return someday, though we have other destinations on our bucket list and can only do trips like this every few years at best.

Home from Japan now, have one day off to recover that I’m gonna need as I caught a bug at some point that morphed from a small sore throat on the last day to a full head-cold ripper during the last 12 hour dry-air plane flight. Lots of elbow coughing and chugging lukewarm tea.
Anyway, last pics

Is seeing a Japanese band at an Osaka Oktoberfest celebration cover Go West by the Pet Shop Boys on your bucket list?

We can’t stray too far in Osaka tonight, so wandered into Shinsekai. This city is still awesome :)
The rain-slicked streets of Shinsekai, looking West past restaurants and souvenir shops as neon glows overhead The center of Shinsekai looking north towards the Tsutenkaku tower that overlooks its kingdom The Tustenkaku tower looms over the graceful disorder of the celebrant throng below Another gaze onto Shensakai, with crimson and golden lights illuminating Izakayas and souvenir shops below

Went to Nara today, one of my favourite places in all of Japan, the original capital and home to thousands of friendly (usually) cervines

Was in Nagoya quite often when I worked here back in 2003-4. Not much has changed and I still have fond memories of this place:)

Finished a great weekend in Fujiwguchiko, where the mount in question played hide and seek with some heavy clouds. Awesome vibe regardless and we were finally able to get a glimpse as the train was about to depart
Fuji from the local train station.

Just had my first ryokan experience in about 21 years and it’s no less relaxing than I remember.
Sorry, as it’s a birthday suit endeavour
, no photos for this one ☺️
