I've leveled up as an artist. ✨

I was not satisfied with my current character design for upcoming game "The Princess and the Porcupine". I've made more research and pushed the design.

Let me know what you think but me I think it's a tremendous improvement!

From Super Ordinary Joe, a short training themed upgrade game:

Not a bug but I had a hole in my UI that begged for an extra option so I added the "video game" upgrade. However, it's a little joke on the player since "playing video games" actually loses you one random stat point.

For an upcoming adventure game inspired by classic folks tales.

Not yet happy with it but it's slowly taking shape.

Stop scrolling and post two characters who bring you happiness:

Well... here's three. Missing Cheese to have the whole gang. Loved this show: simple, honest, fun, thought provoking. And made by a 100% first nation team. That was refreshing.

Hey! If you're still looking, I'd like to know more (deadline, budget, how many sprites do you need).

I produce colorful, slightly cartoonish sprites and prefer a style with minimal textures.

Here are a few selected pieces. You can see more of my work on my itch io page at : small.itch.io

I like TO DO lists. I use them all the time for my projects and developed a bunch of quick to draw icons to organize them.

Here's the legend I use:

We are honing in on a visual style for our garden themed hidden object game. Here's a work in progress scene from the desert biome.

We use a few shaders to add papery texture to the objects, a blur around the mouse position and a heat haze for this specific biome.

I'm very happy about the map generator for Mega Drill. It churns out very varied and interesting maps and can be easily customized (adjust map size, how much mountains, water, population there is).

Here are a few random maps.

What have we become?

I'm worried my UI is getting a little crowded. But then some parts won't be shown during the early game (skills and salaries for example).

Got to make it work first, hope it can get more elegant later!

Character designs for a Mega Man inspired platformer that I hope I can get back to at some time (unfortunately low in my priority list of projects at the moment).

Continuing my style tests:

I'm applying a paper like texture and a dynamic blur all done with shaders. It's blurred above and under the mouse so the blur moves with the cursor.

Showing a static image here for better quality but it's looking quite nice in action.

WIP style test for the new game. Going for a paper book look with fun transitions.

How does it look so far?

Style research for a new game. The design of the characters will change, I mostly wanted to try a coloring style.

Made with Adobe Illustrator. Yeah, I know, I know. I tried other vector software but this one is hard to beat.

Not many new things to show for Mega Drill.

I've been re-thinking the way minerals are distributed on the map and in the digging phase and built a new "information panel" for it.

I've got a lot of thinking and designing to do to bring this game up to what I want it to feel like.

Added some better looking UI and started implementing some options the player can add to his drill.

Here you can see the mech mole quickly moving around gathering ores for the player. That's a very powerful tool!

Apart from Mega Drill, we also have this cute little hidden object game in early development.

What do you think?

Mega Drill still has a long way to go but I've built and submit my Steam page today so I can start promoting and gathering wishlists.

Moving forward step by step!

Still very placeholder graphics but I improved the visuals of my Mega Drill maps:

- added cities of different sizes
- added forests
- changed the mountains (which were just brown flat colors before).

Next: making rivers look like something and adding roads between cities.

Mega Drill progress of the day: Player can now invest LITHIUM in tech research and GOLD in social engineering.

This triggers a selection of three random "cards" the player can choose from.

Mega Drill's progress of the day :

I now have a basic "market place" windows where the player can buy and sell minerals. Taxes are applied to every transaction. Prices will eventually vary over time depending on "offer and demand" and the graphics will show latest variations.☺️
