When it says "L" it means this hitbox when the animation is like "Walk Left" or "Attack LU"

They have to be attached to the dinosaur, so it follows itself around. I only have one hitbox active by checking the animation and name. Then, in an attackable function, it goes through an array and registers it. I need to add new areas because some rotations move a little and change size.

Not really, I ended up getting a slight understanding, but I used a tutorial, and I did not enjoy it. I also like Godot, and it's lightweight, and I don't have to worry about corp greed. And Godot is getting better by the day because it is open source. And my computer cant handle Unreal. have tried

Yeah, I don't think you understand it. Basically is areas that will detect overlapping areas 2ds to then call a function "hit" and hand over the caller's hitbox, and check if in an array of weakpoints

Yeah, ive been using Godot for some time now. And it is the only game engine i have used. tried c++ and made a pong game with no game engine.

Ok, so I tried this and remembered another thing that makes it difficult.

Because the sprite rotates, each weak point needs 8 different versions for repositioning the hitbox.

This is an example with just two hitbox points: the top body and legs.

It does work, but it requires a lot more work.

A reason I went to 3d is the wow factor which is a big factor. In 2d you cant really get that effect. The reason I was going for 2d was performance because I've tried 3d before and had to quit because was too laggy for me to create it. But im making the 3d version low poly like old monster hunters

Thats a good idea, I've ended up going to 3d but that project is still a thing so I could try this, just to see how it works.

Yes, weak points is something thats going to be hard to add but we will see how it goes. But as well as the combo attacks and attacks that lock movement until finished.

There is currently some knockback, but not too much, because it's a boss. I could add some blocks, but it may not work because im trying to get Monster Hunters comba,t but in 2d.

Im currently trying to improve with some help from the blender reddit.

The issues were not enough weight behind the steps and the head bob etc were off syncing

Hmm some or those dinosaurs are not too distinctin the visuals i feel it will be hard to make people not think its a T Rex you know.

I like a process if you can't tell from a silhouette then it would be very unique.

Which is going to be basically top down 2d Monster Hunter but with dinosaurs.

Im still testing if its possible in 2d to get the right feeling combat.

And my other one which is a non profit open source voxel game.
