It's tough to answer because it's a lot easier to stay positive after forming experience as a researcher early on before the noise. I don't think crypto has done a good job yet of being truly inclusive

wish I had real advice but I don't have any real experience outside of university and learning development from a lot of open source projects and lurking a lot of IRC

I give it a 10, cryptography has limits, even when it works it's often an "honest quorum" assumption doing a lot of the work.

SGX at the relayed level is a great idea, it cuts down on a lot of attack surface and reduces some trust in the relay. However, relayer and validator collusion makes this really tough. Seems like we still need participation from many validators before revealing the block
