there’s something I kind of love about the American release of the horse racing simulator game not primarily doing what I expected (getting people into gambling) and instead getting fans really into donating to help support retired horse welfare. buy Haru Urara more grass than she could have eaten!

Hollywood isn’t out of “new ideas” it just doesn’t give “new voices” the same opportunities as establishment ones.

This is especially 100x true for POC writers and creators.

Talking about politics with my parents is starting to feel like talking to a little kid who just watched a horror movie.

It's okay. Don't worry. I turned off the TV. The scary man is gone now.

any time smug computer nerds say "tch...just build a PC" i want to shake them violently and remind them that computer components have been insanely expensive for several years now and the cost of building even a budget PC is frankly ridiculous

The whole twitter showing location thing opened up the hole of liberal racism
I've been made aware that Kyle Kulinski/Secular Talk @kylekulinskishow.bsky.social posted an openly fascist and racist meme on Twitter against Indians, mocking a real disabled Indian man.

Absolutely abhorrent and despicable behavior for a "leftist", and the tweet is still up.

Hahaha, right?! Or what about mandatory disclosures for the discrepancy between the salaries of the CEO and their lowest paid worker? That would be so funny, right?! Let’s do it as a funny joke!!!

Valve sucks and any competitor has, in theory, a massive leg up if they just do things welll, give devs a fairer shake, and keep their mouths shut... and they can't do any of those three.

Btw this is why I really like steam calender release features
A lot of games that I would have never even heard of can be found there
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding. I, too, yearn for the days of being able to spend hours crafting my perfect build from hundreds of available options, only to discover that it mathematically cannot survive the mandatory rat fight portion of the first dungeon.

I am very sure this has been an issue with steam for way longer especially in the visual novel scene
The additional context is that Valve is still killing a beloved games studio, still tried to weasel out of making a press statement, still didn't allow a second review, and still did not communicate with the developer beyond vague references to their terms.

Following Valve's decision to ban first-person horror adventure Horses from distribution on Steam, the company has provided "additional context" in a statement.
