As children, my sister and I collected fishing line, hooks, floats, and plastic containers of salmon eggs.

So much trash left by fishermen.

I was shocked 30 years ago to hear a university professor complain that his publisher required him to hire his own editor. They provided zero fact checking or copyediting.

As a textbook author, I got multiple expert reviews for each chapter and amazing editorial support from my in-house editor.

At 21, I had foot surgery and was given codeine for the first time in my life. I saved it all for my periods and made it last several years.

"Taranto’s attorney. . . asked that Taranto be permitted to return to Washington state to spend time with his wife and two kids for the holidays."

Would that be safe for his wife and kids though?

A week ago, non journalists on bluesky were asking, "Why are journalists only focused on the journalism ethics issues?"

And it's the culture of billionaires who buy chains of newspapers and other media, fire all the good reporters and editors, and bring on people like Nuzzi.

💯

Definitely punishment. He's not telling her what the punishment is for though.

Classic emotional abuse. Let her wonder what's going on in his mind.

She should stop trying to guess and get out.

The commission consists of 14 people -- 5 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and 4 independents.
So close to 1/3, 1/3, 1/3.

But California is
45% D
25% R
23% Indep

I'm not sure what the right distribution on the commission should be. But my district sure looks jerrymandered.

California instituted "independent" redistricting commissions ~20 years ago. It was an idea put on the ballot by a wealthy Republican. Here's my congressional district.
