If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

This is such a good piece, and the AI part is particularly troubling. Wrote about a more specific example, but especially looking more broadly, it's hard not to read this article and not worry about the easy opportunities for abuse ballsandstrikes.org/ethics-accou...
AI Victim Impact Statements Are Here, and They Are Just as Disastrous as You’d Expect
Victim impact statements already lead to harsher sentences for criminal defendants. The use of AI will only make things worse.

And from image events, we get POLYSEMIC images that carry multiple forms of ideology into the present. Here, we have the convergence of Shepard Fairey's iconic HOPE poster for the Obama campaign with the frog icon from #NoKings. The is how you visually dismantle fascist iconography.

In the literature, we call rallies like this "image events" because they help **focus media attention** on a major strain of ideological resistance that is big enough for lots of people to feel comfortable. They create IMAGES that FOCUS our ATTENTION and AFFECT to mobilize frequently.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

I don’t live near a Sinclair station I can catalog ads on to contact advertisers about my boycotting of them. Anyone know who’s advertising on the Birmingham, AL, station that isn’t carrying Kimmel? That’s the closest one to me.
Latest numbers for Kimmel, incredible!🤩
YouTube monologue has been viewed 11 million times while I was having breakfast today, more than double with 25 now and still rising...💪

Also boycotting all advertisers of Sinclair and Nexstar is a great idea, check that out! #JimmyKimmel #Sinclair #Nexstar

First the terrorist tried to enter campus in a car filled with guns. When he wasn’t allowed past the gates, he started firing from a CVS drugstore across the street. From a semi-automatic weapon, 500 shots is a lot. He was at it for a long time.

Here are the weapons & shell casings he left behind.

Some good news amid all the bad.
This week, I’m hosting The Daily Show Tuesday through Thursday.

It’s my first time hosting anything on TV. Ever.

I’ve spent years writing behind the scenes, learning from truly great and talented people. Now, for three nights, I get to sit at the desk and do it myself.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.
