The Hybur mesa is a place of death in Caldera. Apart from the corpses to be found on the climb, the place is littered with the bodies of Alakhari tribes people, and yellow elves, who go there with weapons in their final years to die with honour

If you want to see a human in Hekkuva, you have to travel north through blistering everwinter to the Mall in Gottakatcheh where, 180 years ago, they huddled against the cold as the sun vanished and thousands froze to death. Devils fear to tread there now

Likewise the Osiris Courier service has a "Damocles" clause in Thier intern contracts. If Thier personal mana accounts run dry then Thier invisible blade strikes them down. Contractors can still feel this blade long after Thier contract expires

People close to death in the Vesperran free states claim that there is a grey cowboy who will strum out your last breaths on an ivory guitar. A string breaking as you die. Being wounded and hearing a guitar is considered quite terrifying

In Caldera, a snapped bone is seen as an omen of death. Many grimsages will snap a bone fetish to enable a curse, and this probably arises from the idea that breaking a leg is a death sentence in the grim desert

The Haukyn (half orc) view the moth as a psychopomp. A micro death foreshadowing the transition of self that all things go through (letting a dream die so a better one forms, losing a tusk so a new one grows etc)

In Caldera, the umbrella will keep you safe than any sword, as the sun-god punishes those who dares to travel in his light. Still, carry a spear if you want to not be eaten by scorpions

In Nintya, only bandits carry weapons. If you are seen with sword or wand people will presume you are one. That said, many highland people will pack a bow, and no one will look twice at a dagger.

Primarilly Humans. You gotta work a little harder to have me empathise with non humans. the easiest way to make them lie that is to make them more human. which is easier to do if they were human to begin with.

now, as side characters, they get more interesting, more lie novelty.

If you cannot get to a merchant, then you have to forage. If it's a specific component then you can forage as a downtime activity with a difficulty based on exactly how rare. If it's just general, same check, slightly easier, but with disadvantage (disadvantage favours people with high scores)

Complex.

Usually, magic merchants stock the raw materials you need. Need a pearl but we are inland - they may stock it. Topping up your component pouch? They have it. Inks for scrolls? Rare woods? Arcane foci? Step on up.

They are uncomfortable in dry conditions, and tend to be tall and thin - helps to wade in swampland.
They have a basic broadcast telepathy and a kind of psychic echolocation which makes them adverse to constructs, oozes and undead to which they are blind

In Prospero , in the Midlands, there lies the swamp of sorrow. A vast region populated by Mutani. Mutani are humanoids who can pass as bald humans as teenagers, but Thier bones keep deforming all Thier lives, forming lumps, ridges and even dorsal sails as they age.
