Still waiting for a story about Trump’s deployment of Jared Kushner, a private citizen with no diplomatic credentials - and with an obvious conflict of interest as his son-in-law - as a US negotiator, first in the Mideast, now in Russia -Ukraine. I mean, is this even legal? Why is this allowed?

The New York Times asks its readers for private donations to undo GOP cuts to education. A better idea: donate money to Democrats, the party that supports public education.

Great column by Heidi Stevens. Should be read by every one who voted for Donald Trump.

Heidi Stevens: After Trump’s ‘Quiet, piggy’ moment, we’re done asking why survivors don’t come forward, right?
If we’re going to become a nation that truly protects children and women, we have to stop giving a pass to sexual abusers, writes Heidi Stevens.

Curious as to why the New York Times allows reader comments on only a relatively small number of stories, and why it puts such a tight time limit for those postings. These comments (not the inane MAGA ones) are often insightful and well-written, so odd the Times would want to limit them this way.

You can skip the dreary David Brooks column, whose grand theme is we should all love our country unconditionally, blah blah, blah, and just go straight to the reader comments, many of which are truly first rate pushbacks.

So which country has a more functioning democracy - the one where high officials are charged with corruption, or the one where a President and his top aides are openly corrupt but never prosecuted?

Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.

Gallego to Hegseth: "You will never ever be half the man that Sen. Kelly is. You, sir, are a coward. And the fact that you are following this order from the president shows how big of a coward you are. I can't wait until you are no longer the secretary of defense."

I would love to see the media when reporting on Trump’s lawless and reckless behavior to note
which of his specific actions might constitute impeachable offenses. I think that would remind the public that in normal times a President who behaved like Trump would be removed from office.

We are in a bizarre moment of diplomatic history. The purported "peace plan" that appeared a few days ago begins in Russian unreality and American weakness. Demanding everything of Ukraine and nothing of Russia, its purpose is imperialism and profiteering.

Let's stop calling them the Blue states and the Red states. The proper terminology should be the Blue states and the Gray states. No reason to beat around the bush. Today's Republicans are the heirs to the confederacy.

Of the thousands of despicable things Trump has done just since January, his demand that Ukraine essentially surrender unconditionally to Putin is right up there with the worst. The fact that this garbage proposal is reported as a "peace plan" is shameful.

Another outstanding #Jamelle Bouie column. Love how he ties Trump's rebelliious effort to take over the country to the Confederate rebellion in the Civil War.

Not sure which is worse, a right wing columnist who largely supports Trump, and a moderate - think Thomas Friedman - who skewers Trump one day and applauds him the next to the point of talking him up for a Nobel Prize. I really think the “you have to give Trump credit” writers are more exhausting.

After decades in which the word “McCarthyism” evoked a dark period in American history that no one wanted to return to, its truly stunning to think we’re living in a time when the president and his party are reprising the despicable brand of dishonest smear politics that defines that shameful era.

Given the Trump.administration’s well-earned reputation for mendacity and Trump’s firing of the former BLS chief, should the media report job figures without mentioning the caveat that they could be made up?

Prove me wrong but I have the feeling that before he exits the presidency Trump will have emblazoned his scowling face on one or both sides of the Stars and Stripes.
