Feather is kinda a massive scam in my experience, idk why they bothered implementing a system like this that's so half-assed in execution that pretty much everyone I've spoken to has immediately found it to be an inconvenience to be disabled

Maybe The Night They Missed the Horror Show? It loosely fits the contours of that premise, but is pretty notable for being one of the earliest forerunners of the splatterpunk stuff

Nah that was also my least favourite part of both games, I love the first like hour of the first one where it's just Sam carrying the body of his mother, but once you start investing in tech it robs the landscape of a certain kind of beauty and treachery in a lot of ways that mirrors reality...

For hard recs, there's this podcast called New Books in Critical Theory that, apropos to its title, does a decent job of curating a stream of recent titles that are representative of trends. I don't listen to most of the episodes admittedly but it's quite nice for keeping a finger on the pulse!
