It is highly heritable. Plus he has been symptomatic since 2015. He had non sensical speech back then. It has just gotten worse… as it does.

I’m just after the Boomer years… ‘69
In 1987 it was 10k. That was a private college, not a state school. Same program/ same school today is 38,912 for this year. So it almost quadrupled.
For comparison, salaries in my field for new grads are 2.3x what I made. Tuition costs far outpace wage growth.
