This is an interesting point. I feel like my works are a mess and I’m stylistically nowhere where I’d want to be so it changes all the time. But I also can tell that I’ve painted them all. It’s probably that the author sees the differences but others see the similarities?

A background is a background for the character, it’s not really a background while there is no character and how you paint it should be directed by the character. What I’m trying to say is - you should do both at the same time :D thumbnails really are great for figuring out the main things!
