We were thrilled to welcome Sue Brian, visiting from Australia, to see our beautifully crafted cabbage tree hat — one of only a handful known worldwide. Sue shared new insights that deepen the story of this unique piece in our collection.

Great to host University of Reading researchers at Verulamium Museum for the REMADE project! They used a new method to chemically analyse our copper alloy objects - helping to identify patterns of recycling and reuse, and to date artefacts.

🚪 When we ran our ‘Commit No Nuisance’ art competition, we realised many people don’t know where the original door is.

It’s on the west side of the Clock Tower, painted in 1915 to stop people from committing a nuisance!

Next time you’re in St Albans, see if you can spot it.

Of particular interest was Risley Park Lanx, an apparently Roman 'rediscovered' platter that was actually made 20thC by, or for, a certain master forger, Shaun Greenhalgh...
