Great to host University of Reading researchers at Verulamium Museum for the REMADE project! They used a new method to chemically analyse our copper alloy objects - helping to identify patterns of recycling and reuse, and to date artefacts.

We had a fascinating few days at Verulamium Museum recently, welcoming researchers from the University of Reading as part of the national REMADE project (Roman and Early Medieval Alloys Defined).

🚪 When we ran our ‘Commit No Nuisance’ art competition, we realised many people don’t know where the original door is.

It’s on the west side of the Clock Tower, painted in 1915 to stop people from committing a nuisance!

Of particular interest was Risley Park Lanx, an apparently Roman 'rediscovered' platter that was actually made 20thC by, or for, a certain master forger, Shaun Greenhalgh...
