You must mean that both source arrays are not associative as the spread operator does not work with string keys. With int keys, array_merge is a bad conveyor of intention, as it will "concat" the arrays and which does not feel like a "merge" to me. So spreading feels more intentional in this case.

the profession of software engineering isn’t going away any time soon, but unfortunately the fun parts of the job (doing adderall and generating large amounts of code) are easier to automate than the annoying parts (reviewing & debugging other people’s adderall code)
