So our campus just announced the six undergraduate programs being put on the chopping block.

One of them is Philosophy.

Philosophy.

Devastating. Trump admin selling off historic public art to the highest bidder. "It is a tragic irony that murals meant to represent the contract between the government and its citizens would be sold to the highest bidder rather than preserved for posterity." www.alternet.org/trump-destro...

And we'll keep holding them accountable.

I've never encountered more students who say they hate reading. Students who want to be teachers, writers, or both. I wonder if "hate" means "I have trouble reading," but I also talk with so many students who write in a genre but refuse to read in it. They can't see themselves in relation to others.

‘Beyond the Visual’ is indicative of a shift in cultural institutions from the idea of access as accommodation to access as creativity .. This approach is not about substituting one sense for another but about expanding the range of the senses with which we encounter art.'

There's a tradition that never gets old: our ex-orphans returning home after giving birth, just to share the joy with the Keepers who raised them. This time of year is full of these reunions - mothers bringing their wild-born babies back to say hello. That's what your support creates. 🐘💚

Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

“Iowa City eliminated bus fares in August 2023 with a goal of lowering emissions… The two-year pilot program proved so popular that the City Council voted this summer to extend it another year, paying for it with a 1% increase in utility taxes and by doubling most public parking rates to $2 from $1”

With current technology, it is impossible to tell whether survey respondents are real or bots. Among other things, makes it easy for bad actors to manipulate outcomes. No good news here for the future of online-based survey research
