It was brilliant to be part of this event yesterday. Thanks to all our partners and of course the fantastic young adults who made this year’s event the best ever!

Over 3,000 pupils from 30 schools across the Capital are attending Young Driver 2025 this week!

With everything from mock courts through to virtual reality and driving simulators, this annual event encourages the next generation of Edinburgh's drivers to be safe and responsible.

I’ve never been convinced with the approach the city takes to fireworks control zones and this year is no different. For me it is a binary choice, whole city ban (which I’d support) or nothing at all.

Unfortunately there isn’t much the council can do, however by highlighting the issue and the concerns of the community it quite often reduces the risk of it happening again I’ve found. I’ve spoken to parks and the Councils tree officer and they have it in hand 🌳

Angry on a Monday morning is no way to start the week! Out on my morning walk this morning and someone has snapped all but one of the new trees in Pentland Park 😡 why would you do that? I’ll report this damage to our fantastic parks team today and see if I can get them replaced.

This week I was delighted to launch a new EV charging initiative for the South of Scotland. Edinburgh is the lead authority in the rollout of 1770 additional public charging points across the region in a £6.3m program supported by the Scottish Government.

Just wouldn’t have been right if I hadn’t used a bike today would it? Waverley Station to Bruntsfield, 12mins, £1.32 👍

Main St in Balerno just hasn’t been the same with the Grey Horse closed so this really is fantastic news. Well done to everyone involved and I’m looking forward to popping in for a pint soon 🍺

The consultation details the likely location of tram stops. All tram stops will be fully accessible.

In Feb 24 TEC agreed that an alternative route to the Roseburn corridor should be considered. All route options have been fully investigated by external specialist consultants and the route over the Dean Bridge as detailed in the consultation is the only viable alternative to Roseburn.
