I wish there were a single cell in my body that believed there would be any meaningful consequences for this.
Hey so as someone who has a degree in global politics and spent a significant amount of time studying international law — this is a textbook example of a war crime.

“The people in charge of the discourse are no longer the same people who are in charge of the government, which is why the media is at last attacking the government – something they never did when the truly horrible things were happening.”

The Myth of a Rightward Realignment

Let’s discard some stubborn misconceptions about Trump’s support and what happened in the 2024 election. They are only obscuring our understanding of a profound de-alignment.

As the piece is partially behind a paywall, I’ll share some key thoughts:

Why POC collectively hold our breath when there’s a mass shooting or high profile crime before the suspect is even identified:

• Afghan man shoots a National Guard member:
With zero knowledge of the background or motive, the right screams that Muslims are terrorists and must be deported.

You don’t have to pick a side. Sometimes a situation has two assholes in it.
So Olivia Nuzzi is clearly a piece of shit who can never work in journalism again after this.

And, also, Ryan Lizza is clearly a piece of shit who should never work in journalism again after this either.

We're all agree on that, right?

Probably best not to get your hopes up for an upset in Tennessee, but a Trump +22 district going to this close in just a year probably has Republicans looking at the midterms like a potentially extinction-level event
The fact that the polls are even close at all is just a welcome bellwether I think

He’s already suing them for a billion dollars or whatever. Might as well double down at this point.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

There’s a reason Green Room is set in Oregon.
Far-right activists are trying to capture the U of O campus. This particular flag was used during the J6 insurrection attempt and more recently as a symbol for Charlie Kirk. Maybe most people just think it's patriotic but it's being used for far-right recruitment on campus.

One fascinating and yet expected thing is that none of the big foreign accounts pretending to be American are left of center, or even anti-Trump. Not a single one. Says something about the economics and geopolitics of political grifting
If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Got food poisoning from Fogo De Chao. Puked out the side of a moving cab along beautiful Copacabana Beach. The most exotic place I'll probably ever puke!

There is a Twilight Zone episode called It’s A Good Life in which a child with limitless powers holds his entire town in his thrall, doing and getting whatever he wants, and the fearful townsfolk are unable to stand up to him.

Here’s the plot. Feels like now, right?
