I thought I might bring your attention to the EPA’s reconsideration of the ban of asbestos. My dad served in the Navy after college and all of the pipes on his ship were clad in asbestos which is very fire-resistant. Every night he’d sweep asbestos flakes off his rack before going to bed. 1/

Writing is thinking.
i just find this so bizarre. searching through texts and doing the reading for myself is how i actually think through ideas! trying to put together a sentence is how i figure out what i actually want to say!

Every time I listened to MLB radio broadcasts while driving, I would always check to see if the Brewers had a home game just so I could listen to him. He made everything OK, if just for a little while.

In a sport he adored, Bob Uecker was "Mr. Baseball." In Milwaukee, he was just "Ueck."

This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.
I'm sure many have said this before but I'm reading a student-facing document about how students might use AI in the classroom (if allowed) and one of the recs is: use AI to make an outline of your reading! But ISN'T MAKING THE OUTLINE how one actually learns?

The most hilarious thing I've seen on the Internet today is a monthly subscription to a survivalist box. Nothing says doomsday preparedness like watching for the UPS driver.

For a #throwbackthursday Thanksgiving, here are Sam and Harry as kittens, about six and a half years ago. I'm thankful for my dad's decision to rescue their mother. Just look at those beans!

A few months before my father passed away, a very young stray cat asked my parents for help while they were at the local fairgrounds. My parents took her in, named her Maxine, and then discovered she was pregnant. Sam and Harry are her sons.

One thing I like about Bluesky so far is that a lot of folks seem to be posting pictures of the their pizzas. Love the diversity. Here's one of mine, in progress. The crust is naan.
