Have to be 200yds up the road in an hour for nosebag at friends. It'll be great when there but I have no enthusiasm for shaving, showering or the walking up the hill which might be the end of me. If not the stagger back will be fine if I don't walk into a🌲or a 🦡! We don't have street lighting!!🍷

Mrs. M's Mum, who went off on her jolly way in summer 2018, would have been 100 today. During the Blitz she did fire watch duty on her school roof, later worked at the bank of England before having two children & later became a JP. Here she is probably just before WW2 as a young teenager.

Popped out earlier to fill the bird feeders for the first time this autumn. Peanuts, seeds & fat balls. Dare I say it was balmy in the Garden of England? Hard to believe sleet is forecast here next Thursday! 🥶🌨️

Dec 2019. The pup about 3 months old & the 10 year old cat sorting out the hierarchy. The old cat was superseded in 2021 by a new model.

Some thoughts on why Remembrance is so important, and why attempts to police it should be resisted.
One of the most precious things about Remembrance is that it sets no political tests.
It asks only that we "remember", and that we do so in the silence of our own thoughts.
It doesn't dictate what we remember, how we remember or what lessons we draw.
That's between ourselves and our conscience.🧵

It is early in the morning, and there are few people about in this 1919 work by William Nicholson of the Cenotaph in London. It is the original white-painted wood and plaster structure designed by Edward Lutyens, it stands out in stark relief against the Foreign Office.
