Coincidentally, this post kicked back into the news feed this morning as I continue to think about Thommy Price’s life & drumming - and as I prepare to go into this same studio (Little Steven Van Zandt’s) to record with my new band today…

Who’s that behind me on drums? Why, that’s the legendary Thommy Price recording a track for my album The Concrete Jangle - at Little Steven Van Zandt’s studio in NYC!

Of course. But he wasn’t the bandleader.

Oops - I forgot about that. Yeah he’s a Cunt, but I heard this song on the radio today and I remembered how much I loved it as a kid before before the racist prick in him came out…

Can we all agree that -

Derek and the Dominoes
was the best thing that Clapton ever did?

Followed by Blind Faith?

I do think there were some pre recorded tracks that he played to…mainly bass parts.

(he also played with Michael Monroe & many others). We just spoke last week when he called to tell me he was coming to NYC soon and we talked about our kids.

“Decomposing A Song For You”). There are 2 songs he played on that are still unreleased that will go on my next album.

Besides the rock gigs like Joan Jett & Billy Idol that he was most famous for, he could groove on play R&B as he did w/Willy in Mink DeVille, we bonded over that when we met (cont)

It beaks my heart to say RIP Thommy Price. An amazing groove drummer, fantastic human being and a wonderful friend.

I was honored to have done many gigs with Thommy when we played with Robert Gordon and to have him play on my album The Concrete Jangle (he’s drumming on “All Tied Up” & (cont.)

Pat Metheny at Carnegie Hall tonight was the most incredible musical performance I’ve ever seen in my life. It was solo & mostly acoustic with 10 different guitars. Many of them in his signature baritone tuning plus his Picasso guitar with two sets of drone strings, his Roland synth guitar (cont)
