the continued insistence that state violence can somehow be contained and/ or used "the right amount" is simply a fantasy held by both political parties. law enforcement is always making a *political* choice how to exercise it.

There are 113 different conferences around the world. They basically make decisions at the national level. There's a lot more diversity in Catholicism than people think.

I maintain my position that white collar crime remains the most underprosecuted, and more vigilance on this would have saved us from at least two Trump presidencies before they happened. These guys are sloppy, they're just also stupidly intimidatingly rich. But not richer than the State.

In MA who pays for a sidewalk in that situation? Is it the homeowner's responsibility to maintain public infrastructure or is it the municipality/county?

I know in PA a lot of the pedestrian hostility is driven by property owners being responsible for public infrastructure.

This post from @moiradonegan.bsky.social really articulates the thought well because of the bluntness.

It would be extraordinary for Bondi's office to have been involved here. And she wouldn't have had any hard power over Krischer to convince him to do anything.

Acosta was a federal attorney and she'd have even less power to influence him.

Bondi got her job because she dropped the Trump U case.

This is a conspiracy theory that relies on ignorance of how Florida prosecutors work.

Florida's attorney general (Bondi) doesn't supervise state attorneys (prosecutors). The SAs are independent elected officials. The AG only becomes involved if an investigation is a statewide matter.

And I mean big struggle since Amazon is an American company and the executives are unlikely to remember that Britain had an empire during the Cold War.

I think the big struggle will be how do you have Bond without the British Empire.

The Craig Era leaned into the US-UK tension w/ the War on Terror melieu. But we're now post-War on Terror & the Special Relationship has cooled.

Bond is the stilleto up Britannia's sleeve. But can she use it?

Studios gotta take The Simpsons writers' mindset about continuity.

Continuity doesn't matter beyond the characters' motivations and personalities, every story should just be built around "What would X or Y do in this situation."

Canon only exists to establish personality and motives.

And Bond's TARDIS is embodied in Q.

There's something about the performative wearing of suits by these fascists that's really off putting. It's like they're wearing them as a form of national costume.
