Seems this reflects a general finding that significant advantages remain (in muscle mass, bone structure and density, VO2 max, as well as any height and reach advantage obviously), hence the suggested open/third category. There’s usually a middle way, or I like to think so…

James Reason (1938-2025)
I learned yesterday that Prof. James Reason died. Thanks for the inspiration, Jim. But most importantly, at this time, we hold him, his family and those who loved him, to the light. www.linkedin.com/posts/steven...

🟡 Dealing with gaps in the loop
Despite advances in technology, human intervention often prevents accidents and more generally ensures that things work, filling in the gaps. Human involvement remains essential, argues Anders Ellerstrand

Lucy’s book When The Dust Settles is the only one that I own in three formats (audio, paper and kindle) and have ‘audioread’ in two simultaneously (recommended - Lucy is the narrator of her own life and work). Her forthcoming book Come What May is released in May 2025.

I just received an article proposal…70% ChatGPT on checking. Then I had to waste time writing a response tell them that we do not accept ChatGPT articles (I’m not ignoring it or making another excuse). On reflection, I should have written in the style of ChatGPT.

Are you an airline pilot or air traffic controller diagnosed as autistic* or ADHD? If so, and if you’d be willing to have a chat as a basis for an article and talk on neurodivergence and diagnosis, please DM me or contact[at]humanisticsystems.com

This is an example of casual ignorance of, or lack of care about, wheelchair users, those with pushchairs for children, and people with walking frames. Consistant issue in Edinburgh. An excess of poles and street furniture doesn’t help.

I love this. The way I repeatedly think about this is by thinking about mortality. Nothing else quite brings that level of clarity. It’s never far from my mind, and acts as a constant and necessary pull back from insane productivity obsession.

Heart rate variability in individuals with autism spectrum disorders: A meta-analysis

“Our findings support reduced HRV values (especially low RSA under social stress) to be a candidate biomarker of ASD.”

Someone fairly senior did…

I’ve written back to them highlighting the quandary. It’s not a good look. Hopefully they’ll see that but I think a longer struggle is in store.
