Will read much, post little. Here for politics and to learn things. Maybe quite silly sometimes too.
Slowly sliding here from you know where.
This is a wonderful thread.
I'm going to reproduce a saucy thread I did some years ago in the other place. It is divisive and produces many odd statements and flushes out parochial opinions.

Please act on this

First Brexit, which has been brushed under the carpet, and now Reform and Farage.

There are many questions to be asked about Putins money and where it’s gone.

Petition: Call a public inquiry into Russian influence on UK politics & democracy

Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.

Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph

Because this does NOT add up!

No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

News of the @originstorypodcast.bsky.social latest season has reached Jingdezhen 景德镇, China

Perhaps @dorianlynskey.bsky.social or @iandunt.bsky.social would care for one (or all) to sit under their watchful gaze whilst they work

I’m sure they would be all very gracious about the latest episodes.

Poor take by Curtice.

This is a disaster for Farage. Polls had RefUK closely winning. Losing by 11% signposts Plaid to all of Wales as THE tactical choice for Senedd Elex and drains RefUK momentum.

"Something is happening out there", alright. People are uniting to tell Farage to feck right off.
Prof John Curtice also calling it a great night for Reform too & focusing on Lab vote collapse instead of the turnout + tactical vote

I have half an hour before my next interview so I'm going to sketch out what I find an important problem with the fashionable division of immigrants into "net contributors" and "net recipients" of government spending. 1/10
The argument of Lam, Philp and Badenoch would be "tell the net contributors they can stay & tell the others we are v sad to kick them out"

Maybe they would have retreated just on pragmatic reciprocity, though Lam is willing to forget about that in what she says here about her mass expulsion plans

Javier Milei had to beg a bail-out and already needs another. Argentina's economy is in a tailspin. Gov't bonds and peso in freefall. People starving, throwing rocks at him.

Farage last year: "He's amazing. It's Thatcherism on steroids. Cutting and slashing expenditure. That's leadership."

There seems to be some *confusion*
among Reform supporters over Nathan Gill being one of them

“But, but, Reform didn’t exist when he took his Russian bribes”

“But, but he was in UKIP”

“But, but it has nothing to do with Farage, he barely knew the guy”

So here’s a little history lesson 👍🏼🧵

The events of the last week In both the UK and US have filled me with a sense of dread.

Why?

The tyrannical zeal of the US far right?

The madness of Musk?

The menace of Farage?

Yes.

But mainly because Keir Starmer makes me feel as if we're all vulnerable.
