With a proper search engine you have some sense of the recipe’s source. ChatGPT is just chewed up and regurgitated data, with no citation unless you explicitly ask. Even if you don’t care about the way it steals content from real people, it’s an unreliable delivery mechanism.

I guess my concern is that the longer you dedicate yourself to a particular platform, the more locked in you become. And what is portable now may not be in the future. Substack, like most corps, has shown signs they aren’t particularly dedicated to open protocols or the open web.

To me, these people are so much cooler than whoever is at the top of the AI heap, or the makers of the hottest app. I’d be far more starstruck to run into Lockdown Systems than any of those stars.
