I'm not against enforcement of laws in general, but my conception of a just police force would look so different than what we have now we wouldn't recognize it as "police."

Our police are nothing than thugs intended to enforce unjust laws.

Let cops earn that respect. And that means more than putting on the uniform. That means not protecting cops who kill a Black 12-yr-old, or who rape sex workers.

It means not rounding up homeless camps.

One of the problems here is that for you, the problem is that people don't "respect" the police — instead of looking at their failure to EARN that respect. You've said that you have a "big problem" with racist police, but this framing dismisses the people who fear or loathe police as a result.

This is the very reason that I hate the term "cop killer," which is invariably spoken as if killing a cop is inherently more morally reprehensible than, say, killing a teacher, EMT, or accountant.
