Central London is surprisingly peaceful. Remarkably little traffic noise, just the frequent planes and an occasional siren.

Yes - the transition is happening apace and there is only one direction of travel... #renewables.

In 2012 when I first put solarPV on my roof, wind and solar generated less than 7% of UK electricity generation. Gas and coal were 69%. So far in 2025, wind and solar have generated 39% of UK demand. Gas (there's no coal) is down to 29%. It's very good to see :-). grid.iamkate.com

Tomorrow's job - seed sowing for those that need a cold spell before germinating. So tonight they're getting a pre-soak to prime them. All our own seed, collected from the gardens :-).

Wind and hydro now generating 79.3% of UK electricity demand. Don't think I've ever seen it higher. Note also that the price is currently negative...

We went to Edinburgh to see www.nationalgalleries.org/exhibition/a... Made it into a mini-break, spending ~£400 on hotels, buses, eating out, other ad-hoc tickets and bits of spending. Just one tiny example of the economic multiplier effect of art and culture. Don't get that with an AI data centre.

Yes - and this company is the sole owner of the company formerly named Reform Party UK Ltd which Nigel Farage owned 9/15ths of. It changed name to Reform 2025 Ltd on the same day the other one changed names - in effect they swapped names. We don't yet know who owns the new, parent company.
October 19, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Allow me to clarify - though this won't clarify anything... There is a limited company called Reform 2025 Ltd. Until May this year it was called Reform Party UK Ltd. Co No. 11694875. As of August 2024, Nigel Farage held 9 of the 15 shares. 1/3

For the #heatpump /solarPV/battery curious, here's a typical late September day...
The brown area is us buying electricity from the grid during off peak time, at 8p/kWhr. This tops up the 13kW battery and runs a hot water cycle via the heat pump. We might also charge a car during this time. 1/
