We 💯% agree with our President ⤵️ #GreatSchoolLibraries need trained library staff.

200 books in an alcove under a stairwell do not a Library make.
School librarians equip children with the literacy skills to learn, relax & find information we need for fulfilled lives & to be informed citizens.
Every child deserves a Great School Library.

I missed #NationalPoetryDay yesterday with lots going o, but it's surely never too late to celebrate this joy from Louis Macniece, which my husband recites from time to time. Enjoy!

We welcome the news that the government have committed to 'providing a library in every primary school’. School Library Services provide a wide range of stock, expertise and resources. They're the most cost-effective model and need to be at the forefront of this important plan.

The overlooked service that could make plans for a library in every primary school in England a reality
Libraries should be an inclusive resource for communities of children with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and learning needs.

Integrated care teams need help to expand the forms of knowledge & evidence they use. A study by Vicky Ward found knowledge-oriented questions from the researcher interrupted the flow of meetings.
I encourage #ICS to use embedded librarians to meet information needs

What a lovely team!
Whatever they were saying, I'm pretty sure they were thinking, as library teans do know, that libraries open doors to leisure, learning and opportunity.
Plus, when you listen in, there's a lot of laughter in libraries too.

A proper Librarians' Night In. Spent the last 3 evenings in a picture library, immersed in Poliakoff's Shooting the Past. Utterly compelling. The mysterious expertise of librarians and archivists; the compelling hold of black and white photography.
