This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who stepped up to help their communities at our food giveaways over the last few weeks.

This has been a difficult year— but the outpouring of generosity across LA County this holiday season has been inspiring.

Volunteers are hard at work right now at our food giveaway at the Fedde Sports Complex in Hawaiian Gardens.

There are still plenty of meals available— and no line! If you or someone you know could use some free groceries this holiday season, please stop by. The event will be open until noon.

If you are in the Norwalk area today, come enjoy a free Thanksgiving lunch at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex today at 11am.

If you have any unwanted guns at home, we can help make your gift-giving a little easier this holiday season.

On Dec. 6, we are hosting a gun buyback at the South Whittier Community Resource Center where you can exchange firearms for gift cards and help make your community a little bit safer.

50 years ago, a group of South Bay women came together to fight for greater representation and empowerment—and formed the National Women’s Political Caucus South Bay.

Their work never stopped.

On your 50th anniversary—thank you to the NWPC South Bay for your ongoing advocacy.

I moved to adjourn our meeting in memory of Jesse Marquez, a fierce and unwavering advocate for his community of Wilmington.

I will miss him, his honesty and the way he pushed all of us—including me—to do better. Jesse may be gone, but the movement he built is very much alive.

I want to do everything I can to support this station—and I know that accessing the bridle trails on the Peninsula has been a problem for many years.

So my office is funding the purchase of an off-road vehicle, 2 ATVs, and an e-bike for this station.

For half a century, the men and women of the Lomita Sheriff’s Station have protected & served our South Bay communities—and today I’m here in Lomita to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
