Defund the police from militarizing so heavily, not to defund them out of existence. That’s a nuance of the demand that doesn’t lend itself to catchy phrases on a sign. Cops need to be peace officers again, not paramilitary units with quick trigger fingers for BIPOC people.

FDR saved us from more than we realize. A lot of the robber barons were sympathetic to fascism during the 30s just as they are today. FDR was not only trying to save capitalism, he was trying to save us from an oligarchic destruction of democracy. Sadly, we have no one like that to go to bat for us.

People think CA is all beaches and sun, but it’s a beautifully ecologically diverse state and well worth a visit if you’ve never gone! 🙂

As a native Californian, I can say it snows in a great deal of CA that isn’t by the coast. In Northern California it snows even there. Sometimes in LA or San Jose you see snow on distant mountaintops.

I think Vance would have a hard time being the standard-bearer of MAGA, or their splinter cult America Fascist. He is just not popular enough. No doubt he will try, and he will be scary in the attempt, but I doubt he can succeed.
