I don't think they *had* to bring him back, but there are a lot of elements that fit the Ms particularly well. Can hit at T-Mobile, great contact rates, getting ~$20m AAV, fit the clubhouse.

Slugging is the #1 playoff hitting characteristic you want. Because when you face great pitching, you have to punish mistakes. You aren't stringing together 4 hits against the best of the best very often.

There won't be a cap, MLBPA will never budge there. I'm an Ms fan, and the floor/cap wouldn't change their behavior one iota.
