After 2 days living in a hotel after being evacuated for a fire, I celebrated my ability to go back home with a 20 mile bike ride before work.

We were evacuated from our home today due to a new fire here. It's been a rough year for SoCal. Currently watching a Kings game in a hotel in Burbank and hoping for the best. Our Firefighters are amazing and I hope they stay safe. We could all use some good vibes if you got them.

Last night, I had clear skies and no wind and attempted to get more deep-sky photos. It took some effort, but I got these decent shots of M 33 and IC 2177. IC 2177 is also sometimes called the Seagull - I have its head here.

I cycled 17.83 miles in Burbank on the LA River West Bend and wore a CA shirt in honor of the challenge.

Who loves a good book map?
Artist Jason Hall and I spent a lot of time putting together the map of Kamaria for the Song of Kamaria trilogy. (It's featured in Quasars.) We wanted something "more sci-fi"-looking than traditional book maps, so we took an angled approach with pip tags.

Our tour of the deep skies continues with NGC2175, the Monkey Head Nebula. This one came in rotated 180 degrees, so I didn't see the "Monkey Head" element right away. But once I rotated it in Photoshop, it was super obvious! It's really weird seeing a skull in space!
