"To be made" ... he's including promises of future investments as part of the refund amount, which is thoroughly bogus. Also, giving back stolen money is not going to bankrupt the USA, particularly when the money was taken from Americans and would be returned to them.

Distantly related, Intuit informed previous customers that since Microsoft was discontinuing security patches for Windows 10, TurboTax 2026 would require Windows 11. A followup email stated that this applied even for people who paid money to Microsoft to get continued support. Boycott time?

In the WSJ iPad app, you get a few screens worth of actual reporting before you get to the editorials. The WaPo app hits you with Trump-supporting opinions right at the top of the page. I think that Bezos can afford to lose all subscribers but one, the guy being praised. It's coming.

The Nazis targeted the infirm ... easy pickings. ICE is following the Nazi playbook.

The deep respect is for the ability to subvert a democracy and coalesce all power to an individual. It's their dream.

Since the Department of Defense is now known as the Department of War, I think we need a new name for the Department of Justice.

Is there a list of "great red cities" available? What special features enabled them to keep the "blues" from ruining the place? (I'm guessing they live on money from blue states, but perhaps I've missed something).

It's got a sort-of Kent State photo vibe. I hear the CSNY song Ohio in my head.

In the Before Times, if I didn't know enough about either candidate to make an informed decision, I would always vote against the incumbent. I figured that if he or she was any good I would have formed an opinion by now. So, let's try somebody new. But I can't vote for a Republican now.

The vacuous stare ... no mind behind the eyeballs.

If the Republicans were American, they would impeach Trump themselves.

Trump is a Communist.

Where I grew up, lying would get you in trouble. The complete absence of consequences for bad behavior seems like a problem.

Fox has their "Dems in Disarray!" story ready to go.

Or, Ranked Choice Voting. Or a National Popular Vote. Gore won the popular vote by 500,000. We get shitty winners because our systems suck. And the fucking Supreme Court.

I remember the bumper stickers that said "Shoot Cheney first". Any reference today to violence towards anyone in the executive branch would be met with a violent response. Incredible to think of the 9/11 and Iraq War days as "more tolerant" than today.

He told us that "Deficits don't matter". We now run huge deficits in peacetime, every year.

A root cause analysis of our current set of problems flows from "too much money in politics" to Citizens United to the Supreme Court. It has a lot of Trump's delusion that "I am here and so I can do anything I want to do".

It was the Art Deco shade of green, wasn't it? Yeah, no way that could be left that way, future generations would never forgive a faux pas like that.

Did Jeff Bezos choose the dark side on his own, or did his money choose it for him? He will now be known forever as a Trump enabler and a bad guy.

Reuters is referring to Ottawa's Reagan commercial as "controversial". Because quoting a previous US president pisses off the current one. The media is not on our side.
