Hegseth wants all of the fame and prestige of being a 'warrior' and none of the responsibilities that come with being a warrior. Leaving office is what someone in a democratic society would get to do. The culture Pete Hegseth claims demands a different exit.

That is the most fantastic warning label I have seen, did you create it? If so, are you willing to let other people use it?

(Sorry. I know I'm violating it. Sorry.)

I wonder if this is similar to the poetry attack on LLMs? I'm just guessing, but I'd theorize that interpreting poetry takes more processing power for an LLM request and is thus 'starving' standard guardrails, not to mention the fact that guardrails are usually tested against non-poetic attacks.

...such as by inventing things that the AI isn't programmed to recognize as cover. All the player eventually has to do is find one bit of language that the AI designer hasn't encountered before.

The problem with AI thus far is that every time you add in an extra layer - an AI that understands that enemies in cover are harder to kill and it should take away their cover - the human being thinks an extra layer around that AI...

The idea of, say, decrenellating a castle can only really be done by a unit that has been specificially designed and instructed to decrenellate things ahead of time. They can't realize 'hey, those pieces of cover that the enemy are using are making it very hard to kill them. We should destroy them!"
December 1, 2025 at 5:48 AM
Ooh, ooh, I've thought about this! The problem is that most game AIs have no strategic thought layer, only tactics. They can understand 'you should take cover on the way to destroy your target', they cannot understand 'you should destroy this target in order to force a broader defensive collapse'.

Much as I‘d like to agree with this - all of the things you’ve said here are factually correct - I am concerned about abuse of the Presidential pardon power, and *should* Trump use that to issue get-out-of-jail-free cards, I would be fine with turning the recipients of them over to foreign courts.

Roughly how I felt about taking a year's worth of classes on China after 1911.

I'm nervously looking at how January 6th revealed impeachment to be a completely dead button and now worrying that this will do the same thing for war crimes.

If there isn't political capital to prosecute sending a mob to kill the vice president, can we prosecute double-tapping survivors?

While I am happy to pay the libs, I personally feel like MAGA relatives are fully aware that Fox News is as real as professional wrestling. People can watch a news channel for reasons other than to be informed of the truth by it. Their brains aren’t being pickled involuntarily.

It’s a parody- it contains a request to share snacks if you have some good weed in the lower left corner.

I know, but we aren’t the ones putting Trump in the gun. The Republicans put Trump in the gun. We are warning you about the gun.

I have lost count of the number of times I warned that something bad might happen and then been told “oh, so you admit that you want [bad thing to happen].” No, I don’t.

I will always remember a burn John Rogers laid on Sarah Palin during her reality TV career, about an episode where she was 'roughing it' by camping in the woods.

"I know exactly how many steps off camera your makeup trailer is."

I mean, neither of you are wrong, right? We'd be safer with someone who is merely unqualified in that seat.

Nice picture, I like it. Did they make all four walls of the Secretary's office or just the ones we can see in this photo?

I mean I'll hear Burgess Meredith out just so Meredith can collect a check. Everyone's gotta make their cheddar.

Anyway, a U.S. client state is currently doing a genocide bloodier than the Gaza war right now, yet for some reason the perpetrators lack some characteristic which stirs quite the same outrage on Al Gore’s internet. Really makes you think.

At some point, I will get to one of Tom's rare video game posts early enough that I can ask him whether or not that thing we did to Caesar is perfidity and if so how concerned I should be about that.
