I may never make it to Colorado in person, but it's one of my favorite places to drive in "American Truck Simulator". I hope they'll manage to add seasons one day, so I can experience it in the snow too.

Someone was just telling me on YouTube about a reclassification and complete splitting up of Elapidae that I've never heard the slightest thing about. Are you aware of any considerations or work being done in this direction, @wolfgangwuster.bsky.social @tetzoo.bsky.social?

Ooooh.... I did not foresee a Black Metal winter walk for today.
A quiet street in a small town residential area with houses no taller than two stories, with a smaller street going off of it. It is dark, and the streets are lit by street lamps; some houses also still have Christmas lighting up. The streets, houses, and cars are covered with a thin layer of freshly fallen snow.

The German name for the Walnut Orbweaver translates to "crevice cross spider". (Lots of Araneids are "cross spiders" of some sort in German, after Araneus diadematus, even though they don't have cross markings themselves.)
A very dark brown and grey spider on a piece of weathered wooden fence. The outline of the darker pattern on its abdomen resembles an oak leaf.
