You seem to not understand the value of community spaces that can hold more people than most people's houses can.
Saying that free community Thanksgiving dinners "shouldnt happen" is weird. We can redistribute wealth and not demand a hyper-individualized outcome.

As far as "reality based proposals" go, community centers giving away free meals seems to be a good way to distribute free food. This post is demonstrating the community benefit of those places. Not everyone has the skills or energy to cook for themselves at home, even with UBI.
